Dave is an Administrative Law Specialist (attorney) with the Tax Policy Division in the Bureau of Tax Policy at the Michigan Department of Treasury.
The Tax Policy Division (comprised of a team of attorneys, specialists, analysts, and auditors) provides legal research and opinions, develops policy, analyzes legislation, answers highly technical correspondence (technical advice letters and letter rulings), represents the Department in the small claims division of the Michigan Tax Tribunal, and supports the Department’s litigation efforts. These services are performed for the Department’s executive office, the Bureau Director, other department personnel, legislators, assistant Attorneys General, and the general public (including tax professionals).
Dave joined the Tax Policy Division in 2012 and specializes in sales and use taxes as well as special taxes such as motor fuel and tobacco. Prior to joining the Department, Dave was the law clerk for the Hon. William E. Collette of Michigan’s 30th Judicial Circuit Court located in Ingham County.
Dave earned his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law in 2010 and his B.S. in Public Administration from Central Michigan University in 2007.
